Historical informations

Robert I of Scotland, known to modern audiences as Robert the Bruce, was one of Scotland's greatest kings, as well as one of the most famous warriors of his generation. Claiming the Scottish throne through his ancestor, David I, Robert oversaw the independence of his country during the Wars of Scottish Independence against England and its king, Edward I. Following his coronation in 1306, he achieved Scotland’s independence through a guerilla-style campaign of war. In 1314 at Bannockburn, the Scots won a decisive victory against the English under Edward II, securing at last their independence. The year before the Bruce’s death in 1329, Edward III signed the Treaty of Edinburgh-Northampton was signed, whereby England finally recognized Scottish independence.
