HISTORICAL DESCRIPTION
This helmet is a reconstruction proposal based on the model of Gjermundbu, and the incomplete fragments of the Kiev helmet.
The "Kiev helmet", of which we only know the decoration of the eyebrow, and the protection of the nose.
This helmet is undoubtedly the perfect link between the Viking culture, stricto-sensu, and the Rus, whose ancestry is predominantly Swedish, but who are gradually breaking away from their ancestors, to form an independent kingdom, on the political level, and cultural.
The helmet, whose glasses are very long, would have been made to measure for a wealthy aristocrat with a long face.
SPECIFICATIONS
2 mm stainless steel.
Delivered with jugular straps, and leather parachute. Leather colour may vary from beige to brown, according to stocks.
Ideal for medieval sports (Eastern-Western style, HEMA, etc.).
Drilled holes for hanging a chainmail aventail (not included)
The weight varies depending on the size: For a helmet with an inner circumference of 64cm, the weight is around 2.2kg.
A medieval helmet is generally worn with an padded arming cap, for comfort.
To choose the right helmet size, you should measure your head circumference WITH the arming cap, and generally add 1 cm (for safety/comfort).
We also offer excellent arming caps, which typically add around 4-5 cm to your head circumference. Feel free to check our catalogue. Click here!
