This pattern is reproduced from a 12 century original artifact, from Byzantium.This type of representation, where two wild beasts face each other, with a tree of life in the center, is typically Byzantine, and is inspired by Sassanid art from late antiquity.
The datation may be deduced from the motif and certain similarities to a textile found in the tomb of St. Potentianus.
The original textile is stored in the Stadtmuseum Siegburg, Germany.
