Product Details

This type of arming cap was undoubtedly the most common, from the end of antiquity until the end of the 11th century. Many depictions are existing in Carolingian, Byzantine, and another cultures manuscripts, even Seldjukids! The Vikings most likely also used this shape of arming cap, which was most common at the time throughout Europe.

Its specially designed and slightly flared shape allows it to fully protect the cheeks, neck and back of the neck, while guaranteeing excellent mobility of the head in combat. This type of arming cap can be combined very well with chainmail aventails, but can also be worn without.

Our arming caps are made of three layers of felt (1.4-1,8cm thick), an outer layer of premium wool, visible and historic weaving, and an inner lining in natural linen, for comfort, and thermo-regulation during the effort.

All our arming caps are reinforced with a very thick natural linen bias. Reinforcement seams with waxed linen thread for maximum resistance. All visible seams are hand made.

One sized, compatible between a head circumference between 56.5 and 63cm in circumference.

Battle-ready, even for the hardest reenactment battles, like Wolin, Neustadt-Glewe, etc.
More than 400 armings caps already sold across the world.
